Esmakordselt läbiviidud kaitsefookusega rakendusuuringute programmi (RUP) taotlusvoorust said riigi toetuse üheksa Eesti kaitsetööstuse ettevõtte projekti. Toetust kogumahus 3,7 miljonit eurot kasutatakse uuenduslike ja kõrge kaitseväärtusega toodete arendamiseks, mis on ka globaalselt konkurentsivõimelised. Arendusprojektide kogumaht on 6,43 miljonit eurot, millest Ettevõtluse ja Innovatsiooni Sihtasutuse (EIS) toetus moodustab 3,67 miljonit eurot. Projektid on erinevatest valdkondadest, kuid peamiselt seotud droonide kasutuse ja tõrjega. Samas arendatakse ka näiteks autonoomset navigeerimist
